Frequently Asked Questions
When will I receive my Opbox?
Should the campaign be successful, we will be doing everything in our power to get every backer their Opbox as soon as possible. We are conservatively aiming for this to be in December 2020.
What are the details of the crowdfunding campaign?
The reason we are running a crowdfunding campaign is because the product has not yet been produced. In order to afford the production of the product, we are crowdfunding beforehand and will start production once the campaign has ended. We have working prototypes and suppliers ready to produce the Opbox en masse if funded. More questions about the crowdfunding campaign can be directed to info@opboox.ca.
What plants can I grow in an Opbox?
The question might as well be what plants can’t you grow in an Opbox! As long as your plant stays under 30”, you can probably grow it in an Opbox. Unfortunately, this means vine plants that are meant for growing outdoors (like vine tomatoes, cucumbers, etc.) will probably outgrow the system.
How much time do I need to spend taking care of my plant?
In addition to reading/watching the grow tutorials, all you'll need to do is tend to your plant (water, feed, & trim) once a week - a task that takes less than 15 minutes.
Can I grow multiple plants?
The Opbox is designed to grow one plant, because when it comes to growing indoors, quality is more important than quantity. One larger plant grown properly can produce a much larger harvest than four smaller plants fighting for light, space, and co2. That said, we do offer a 4-hole hydroponic system lid for smaller plants like basil and other herbs, or for experimenting with Sea Of Green growing techniques.
I’ve never grown before, is it going to be difficult?
Growing is a lot of fun, but it can be tough when learning on your own. The goal of Opbox is to eliminate all the frustrating aspects of growing so that you can focus on the fun stuff.
How much bud can I grow?
Your harvest size depends a lot on plant strain and genetics, so it’s hard to say exactly how much you can grow. When growing a good strain properly, you can expect to harvest 2-4 ounces per ~3 month cycle.
Will it smell?
Opbox's industrial carbon filter and ventilation system ensure that all odors are sufficiently filtered and eliminated for the entirety of your grow. We’ve experienced the frustration of an underperforming filter causing your whole room (sometimes whole house) to smell, so we’ve done everything in our power to ensure that doesn't happen when using an Opbox.
How much power will my Opbox use?
The average power draw of the Opbox is 120V/1.6A, which should only cost $5-10/month.
Why is the system hydroponic rather than soil?
Not only does a hydroponic system make much less of a mess, it can increase yields by heightening root oxygen levels, providing nutrients directly to the roots, and giving the grower full control over nutrient dosing. Still want to grow in soil? All you need to do is remove the lid to the system and place your pot inside.
How long is a grow cycle in an Opbox?
The length of a grow cycle can vary, but an average Opbox grow cycle will take 12-16 weeks.
How frequently do I need to fill water? How large is the reservoir?
The Opbox houses a 3-gallon deep water culture hydroponic reservoir. You will need to replace your water and nutrients once a week. This should only take 10 minutes.
Do I need a growing kit to grow?
Purchasing the Growing Kit is recommended for ease-of-use, however the Opbox was designed to work with any nutrients or grow medium.
How many grow cycles will an Opbox last for?
The Opbox is designed to last many grow cycles, meaning you'll always be growing your money back. All that’s needed to start a new grow is a Growing Kit.
Is the Opbox repairable?
The modular design of the Opbox allows for easy and affordable repairs for all components. Something not working the way it should? Shoot us a message at support@opbox.ca so we can help you out.
Does the Opbox come with a warranty?
The Opbox comes with a one (1) year warranty. Should any manufacturing defects occur, we will replace the individual component or entire system at our discretion. Please contact us at support@opbox.ca if you have any questions about our warranty policy.
Can I return my Opbox?
We accept returns within 30 days of the original purchase date for unused products in their original packaging. You are responsible for the cost of return shipment and handling fees. Please see our return policy for more details.
